Mastering
Mortgage Fundamentals
Class Overview
This class is presented for the mortgage professional who spans an
experience level of 0 to 2 years or longer. The information presented in the
class will begin with an understanding of the history of the industry
to enable the student to have a foundation to build upon. Next they
will learn the life of a loan from application to payoff, including
movement from the broker to the investor/banker and their warehouse
line, to the wholesaler, and then to possibly Fannie or Freddie. This
will also include a discussion of loan servicing. The class then turns
to teaching the students about the major wholesale investors, who
they are and their role in the industry. The first morning session
is completed with a question and answer period for as long as the
students have questions. Normally this will last between 15 to 30
minutes.
After a lunch period where the student is on their own, we resume
the class promptly at 1:00pm with an introduction to basic forms
and terms. We will provide the students with examples of current
1003's, 1008, GFEs etc. A complete discussion of these forms and
terms will take the class to the end of the day and a Q & A
session to finalize the days activities.
Day two begins with a review of the different loan program
types including government loans (FHA & VA). Since this topic
can be fairly involved, this discussion will lead us to the lunch
break where students are free to the dining of their choice.
The class will begin again promptly at 1:00pm with a review of
technology in the industry followed by a discussion of Automated
Underwriting. This will be followed by a discussion of different
software available to assist originators and brokers. A final Q
& A session will round out the class that will dismiss at 4:00pm.
